What is My Body Shape Chart

Are you interested in learning how to tell what body type you are? Here is a list of different body types for women. Which one are you?

Hourglass Body Types

People with an hourglass body shape have balanced bust and hip measurements with a narrower waist. It’s like looking at a classic hourglass, hence the name.

Famous actresses with an hourglass body shape include Katherine Heigl, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Munroe.

Rectangle

The rectangle body shape, also known as the straight or banana shape, has nearly the same width for the bust, waist, and hips. This body shape tends to be more straight up and down.

Pear or Triangle Body Type

The pear, or triangle, body shape has hips that are wider than the bust. The waist tends to gradually slope out to the hips, similar to the shape of a pear.

Inverted Triangle Body Type

An inverted triangle, or apple body shape, has a bust that is wider than the hips. The waist may be fuller and doesn’t narrow as much.

If you have this body type, you share the same one as Angelina Jolie, Naomi Campbell, Renee Zellweger, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Oval

The oval, or round body shape, has a waist that is larger than the bust and hips. The upper body may be larger than the lower body, giving the overall shape of an oval.

Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox, and Drew Berrymore are considered to have an oval body shape.

Diamond Body Type

The diamond body shape has a waist that is larger than the bust and hips, with shoulders that are narrower than the hips. This shape is named diamond because the body widens at the middle and narrows at the top and bottom.

Famous celebrities with a diamond body shape include Adele, Rebel Wilson, and Kate Winslet.

Athletic Body Type

The athletic body shape is well-balanced and often has muscular definition. People with this body shape may not fit perfectly into the other categories because of their muscular build.

Most Common Body Shape Women

The most common body type among women is the “rectangle” shape. It represents 46% of women. In this body shape, the waist is less than nine inches smaller than the hips or bust.

Famous women with a rectangle body shape include Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, and Cameron Diaz.

Body Type Definitions

Somatotype

A somatotype is a way to describe what kind of body type you have. There are three basic types; ectomorphs, endomorphs, and mesomorphs.

Ectomorph

What is the ectomorph body type?

This body type is generally lean and slender, characterized by long limbs, small joints, narrow hips and shoulders, and a slim waistline. Because of their high metabolic rates, they burn calories quickly. They are frequently hungry and struggle to put on weight or muscle.

Endomorph

What is the endomorph body type?

This body type has larger bone structures and a higher body fat percentage compared to the other types. They are often described as having full-figured or curvaceous bodies for women, and stocky or round bodies for men. Weight loss can be challenging due to their body type’s predisposition to storing fat, especially in the lower abdomen, hips, and thighs. However, with a proper diet and exercise regimen, weight loss is achievable.

Mesomorph

What is the mesomorph body type?

The people that fall into this category have naturally robust and muscular bodies with a medium frame, wide shoulders, narrow waist, and well-built arms and legs. Their genetic makeup allows them to build muscle easily. They often need more calories and protein to maintain their muscle mass. This body type can effortlessly gain or lose weight.

Ecto-mesomorph

This group is a common body type, particularly among athletes. Often described as having the “fitness model” look, they are lean, muscular, and agile, with a V-shaped torso, narrow waist, and strong but not bulky limbs.

Meso-endomorph

These people have a mix of mesomorphic or endomorphic traits. They have strong-looking bodies with thick arms and legs, and a bulky midsection, typically found among bodybuilders and contact sports athletes. Achieving a leaner physique may require a more refined approach to diet and exercise.

Ecto-Endomorph

This group of individuals develops their body type through lifestyle habits, such as poor diet or lack of exercise. Despite their long limbs and smaller bone structure, they often have soft midsections and flabby limbs due to neglect. The most effective plan for this type involves resistance training and high-intensity cardio to promote muscle growth and stimulate metabolism.
